Pencetakan 3D Online: Tinkercad & Hub 3D

). I’ve been using Tinkercad a lot since I got an Ender 3 in 2020. It’s amazing how powerful yet simplistic the software really is. I’ve designed everything from new refrigerator handles (which still hold up, even in outside weather!) to complex small gears for various broken audio equipment!

I’m also glad I decided to spend the extra money to just buy a 3D printer for myself instead of relying on services like this which seem to keep increasing costs. The upfront cost of a 3D printer might be steep for some, but when you really get into it as a hobby, it starts to get cheaper and cheaper!

  2. 3D Hubs seems to be commercial only now, you can no longer sign up without a work email. Anyone know of any good alternative sites?
EDIT: I just saw the recommendation from Chris to try https://www.gallerymarkw.com/seaside3d/ just uploaded my design for a voltmeter box, price was £7.21 delivered, much more reasonable! Thanks Chris 🙂

  3. Personally, I would recommend people stay away from using 3D Hubs SINCE this video was made for 2 reasons:
    1. The prices have gone up a lot. In the video Chris paid £6.19 for his 2 pieces, if you were to order these now it would cost £14.53 – at least from where I live (England also). That's paying £9.36 extra for the same things!
    2. And the next thing that 3D Hubs do now compared to when the video was made is that they add a surcharge for orders under £30, meaning and extra £15.47 is added to the bill, and then with the tax on top that makes it £36.
So from when this video was made you would be paying an extra £25.96 for the same parts 3D printed, and yes I did set it to 2mm layer height in Red PLA.

(If you know some one with a 3D printer I would definitely ask them instead.)

  4. Hi Chris. In this video it show you printing the parts for about £10 – now it seems like there are minimum charges of between £20
And £30 – specifically on 3D hubs but also make it quick.com. Was it just timing that meant you avoided this or did you have some other deal?

  5. Great video and nice job. Thanks for showing both TinkerCAD and 3D Hubs. Will be using them a lot from now on. 3D Hubs is very nice service and first time using. However, there's now a minimum size order of $35 USD. Thank goodness the shipping is free. Still good for printing very unique parts and more cost effective than buying my own printer…for now. Maybe for Christmas.

  6. I don't believe I could ever watch one of your videos where I didn't see something new, Thanx.

  7. I too want buy 3d printer soon ….. helpful video sir you are like my teacher
Can you help in a subject that's printing using HP printer with help of raspberry pi hope you reply from millions of comments

  8. @ExplaingComputers: Chris – I love this, and I'm going to give a friend's 10-year old son the job of printing me one on their 3D printer. I'm writing up my "work order" that includes modifying your design to include a notch for the uSD card, but I'm wondering how much larger you think the holes should be for the 20mm m2 screws? They are nominally 1.9mm wide. 2.0mm holes, or ??

  9. Sadly 3D Hubs just announced they're completely killing off the idea of having anything else than big 3D printing businesses on their site, meaning all the enthusiasts who helped make the site by offering their 3D printers for 3D Hubs costumers, are now being kicked off.

  10. An amazing example of putting technology to work. Thanks for the video, teaching by example. Have modeled a couple parts for my rpi0 based DAC in Solidworks and sent them out to be printed.

  11. Great video Chris! You have also solved a want/justify dilemma for me. I want a 3-d printer but can't justify my purchasing one given that I only want to experiment with 3-d printing and only occasionally actually build something useful. This video shows me how I can satisfy my curiosity without purchasing anything other than the minor cost of having a proper facility 3-d print and ship the finished parts to me.

  12. I was searching some kind of service like 3D Hub and found your channel. One subscriber added. Really interesting channel. Thank you! ^^
For CAD, Fusion 360 has two free licences: student and hobbyist (no commercial uses). It's handy to be able to work on the projects offline.

  13. I like the idea of online 3d modelling and cloud 3d printing if there were enough hubs. Now I sometimes design acrylic displays with vector and raster images. Hence I would love to see online rendering and give my client a link where they could see a mockup from different angles. I just don't do enough displays to justify buying professional modelling software and also my computer renders extremely slow.

  14. Being both by AutoDesk, Tinkercad looks very similar to Fusion 360.
Fusion 360 exports .step, which i convert to .stl using FreeCAD

  15. The price charged by 3D Hubs is very reasonable ! I can dump my RepRap Darwin.

Edit: I tried 3Dhubs and it is very expensive nowadays – Printing small parts like yours would cost around $70 CAD (around $60 USD) in Canada. 18/12/2018

  16. Hi Chris. Long time no chat, I was in the hospital, long story, and had no access to my pc. I'm really pleased to see this subject. Prior to seeing this solution I would have had to go begging to someone who had a printer and I don't like to impose on people. A very well summarised video on a worth while subject matter. I would like to print out a case for my Pi 3 and one for an Appleton that I hope to build one day. Cheers.

  17. 3D hubs is great, I used them to print out a case for a small 5 inch lcd screen I put together for my raspberry pi. there are a few imperfections with it that I think were more laziness on the person doing the printings part. But overall I'm satisfied with the results. and considering that my print was shipped halfway across the country to get to me, I was surprised by the speed I got it.

  18. How cool is that! My DIY skills are, shall we say, "sub-manly", so I had toyed with the idea of getting stuff printed or laser cut, but I shelved the idea after awhile. This vid has gotten me excited again about the possibility of 3D printing. Thanks Chris.

  19. SIR CHRIS,  I BACKED UP THE OLD SYSTEM. JUST OVER 200GB FILES,DATA,PICS,VIDEOS. AND BACKED UP NAS1 TO NAS2!  HOW FUN!  I NEED AN AUTO BACKUP TO GO LOOK FOR ONLY NEW FILES AND ADD THEM AUTOMATICALLY TO THE NAS. LOL  (I REPORTED A BOGUS OMV ERROR THAT CONTINUES TO SHOW UP WHEN LOGGED IN DIRECTLY. SEEMS OTHERS HAVE SAME PROBLEM. MAYBE IT WILL BE AN "EASY" FIX. (NOT OVER MY HEAD)MY LIMITED SPACE ON MY COMPUTER DESK WITH BACK SHELVES, I NEED TO CREATE A STACKABLE SHELVE UNIT. BOTTOM SHELF — MY ROUTER, WND SHELF– MY 5PORT GIGABIT EXPANDER, THIRD SHELF— THE QTY2 HC1 NAS UNITS.JUST ENOUGH SIDES PER SHELF TO HOLD UNITS IN PLACE. TOP SHELF FOR NAS. CREATE A DEVIDER TO KEEP THEM IN PLACE SIDE BY SIDE.  LOW SIDES TO ALLOW AIR FLOW.  ALSO THINKING OF SHELF BOTTOM WITH HOLES DESIGN SOMEHOW TO ALLOW AIR TO FLOW UP THROUGH EACH SHELF.  SOUNDS LIKE I CAN USE YOUR LATEST VIDEO AND A 3D PRINT SERVICES. SHOULDNT BE MUCH. YOU THINK?  SIMPLE DESIGN.NOW I AM LOOKING AT SOFTWARE REFERRED TO ME BY OMV TECHIE FOR iPAD. HELP DOWNLOAD THAT DATA SINCE IT IS IMITED ON THE OS MORE SO THAN A MAC PC. SOFTWARE IS FREE.. GOOD NEWS.AFTER THAT I WILL LOOK AT ROCKPRO64 IF IT IS READY WITH BUGS REMOVED TO USE SATA SSD CARD. SEE IF MINT HAS ALL THE DRIVERS FOR ROCKPRO64 TO RUN WELL.STILL FIGHTING WITH HP WHERE I BOUGHT LAPTOP AS I HAVE 1 YR SUPPORT ON IT.  ALSO MICROSOFT TO ASSIST WITH GETTING THEIR UBUNTU APP WORKING PROPERLY AS THEY HAD IT IN MICROSOFT STORE.  I WANT TO GET ON UBUNTU ASAP! GET SOME EXPERIENCE AND LOOK AROUND A BIT!THEN I WILL BE READY FOR SBC AS MY PERMANENT WORKSTATION.  LEARN LINUX TOOLS, COMMANDS, SEE WHAT APPS I CAN USE FOR MY START UP BUSINESS IN A FEW WEEKS! BOY TIME FLIES.THANK YOU AGAIN AND AGAIN FOR YOUR VIDEOS AND POSITIVE SUPPORT!
