Anybody feel like this is diseconomies of scale? It's so big that communication is lost. It's like pilates. There is more people paying to become pilates teacher, than there are customers for pilates classes. This is one level deeper. Developing something so that manufacturers sponsor it so that they develop research so they can sell it to smaller manufacturers so they can sell it to retail so they can sell it to one guy who is doing science projects to go to university and start that cycle all over.
